Sun as an Anchor is a visual essay documenting the creative journey of an artist/designer through several English winters.
Through a selection of artworks, photographs, designs and textiles from Jawara Alleyne's personal archive, the curation of work draws multisensory parralels between a variety of mediums and expressions as well as exploring diasporic identities and imaginations. It offers a unique perspective on the interplay between urban life, identity studies, and the natural world. The book also features thoughts and conversation from Alleyne's community of creative collaborators.
"In the Caribbean, The Sun isn't merely a celestial body;It is a constant presence that Shapes identities and walks in step with the Lives of its inhabitants, no matter where they roam."
